The River Falls to Broward In Game 1 of the 3 Game Series

The Indian River State College Pioneers stayed in it until the end, but Broward College pulled away late in a 12-6 victory on Wednesday.

The game was tied at five with Broward College batting in the top of the seventh when Vega hit a solo homer.  The River couldn't recover the lead after that score from Broward.  The offense for The River struck early, as they scored 5 runs in the first 3 innings.  Unfortunately, the offense couldn't muster up another run until the 8th inning.

AJ Hrica and Michael Stovman lead the charge for the Pioneer offense by both collecting two hits.  Hunter Holland lead the team in RBI's with 2, both coming on an RBI triple.  Cole Brutcher also contributed by continuing to impress with his power, as he knocked his 6th home run out of the park.

Nikolas Bitner got the ball for IRSC on the rubber.  Bitner went 3.2 innings, giving up 3 runs and striking out 6.  Tyler Suellentrop, Christian O'Kelly, Travis Perry, and Zach Audet all came out of the pen in relief for The River with Suellentrop taking the loss.

The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday at Broward for game 2 of the 3 game series.
