Stubbs and the River offense come up huge in the 9th

IRSC defeated South Florida State College 7-6 on Saturday thanks to a walk-off home run. 

The River trailed 6-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning when JD Stubbs homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.  The bottom of the 9th started with the Pioneers down 6-3.  The offense had struggled to get a big hit in a crucial situation all game, but the tides finally turned in the 9thAxel Salgado started the frame off with a single to center.  AJ Hrica followed Salgado's hit up by doubling into right center.  Hunter Holland had an RBI single into left and Cole Brutcher had a sac fly to make the game 6-5 before Stubbs ended it.  Salgado led The River offense with 3 hits.  Brett Mercier and JD Stubbs both added in 2 hits apiece.

Justin Alintoff got the starting nod for IRSC.  Alintoff brought his strikeout stuff once again, as he went 4.2 innings striking out 8 and giving up 2 earned runs.  Eli Finney threw 3.1 innings in relief giving up 0 earned runs and striking out 6.  Travis Perry spun a perfect 9th inning to pick up his 2nd win of the year for IRSC. 

The River now sit at 7-4-1 and will be back in action on Monday at South Florida State College.
