The River falls in an extra innings pitcher’s duel

Indian River State College baseball took it to 10 innings Thursday against Seminoal State College of Florida.

Both teams were strong on the mound on Thursday from start to finish, but Seminole State College was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over IRSC Pioneers on Thursday.  Nikolas Bitner started the game for The River going 6 scoreless innings while giving up only 5 hits and fanning 8.  Tyler Suellentrop entered in the 7th inning in relief and once again continued to dominate this season as he went 2 innings striking out 3 and giving up 0 runs.  Travis Perry took the loss in the 10th giving up an unearned walk-off run.

The River offense struggled all night at the dish, only logging 2 hits in the game.  A double by Paul Benitez in the 5th inning and another double by Axel Salgado in the 10th inning were the positives for IRSC.  Martello was credited with the victory for Seminole State College. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over two innings, striking out two and walking zero.  Seminole State College had 9 hits in the game.  Barnum went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Seminole State College in hits.
