Timely hitting and pitching lead to Sunday Sweep for the River

After giving up the lead in the 5th, the Pioneers stole the lead back in the 6th to claim the 5-4 victory over ASA College (Miami) on Sunday. The game was tied at four with IRSC batting in the bottom of the sixth when Axel Salgado's sac fly scored one run for IRSC Pioneers. The River offense was highlighted by AJ Hrica, who went 2-3 with an RBI double, and JD Stubbs, who went 1-3 with a two-run home run.
Justin Alintoff got his first career start for The Pioneers in game one on Saturday. Alintoff continued to impress as he went four and one third innings giving up two runs and striking out ten ASA hitters. Travis Perry was the winning pitcher for IRSC. He allowed two hits and zero runs over two innings, while striking out two and walking one. Massaro toed the rubber for ASA College. He surrendered four runs on five hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two.
The River Offense got rolling early en route to scoring six against ASA College in game 2 of the doubleheader on Saturday. Much offense from the Pioneers was not needed however, as the combination of Eli Finney, Michael Stovman, and Jack Durkin, dominated from pitch one. The three IRSC pitchers only allowed one run through seven innings in the 6-1 victory. Eli Finney was the winning pitcher for the IRSC Pioneers. He surrendered zero runs on five hits over five innings, striking out four. Michael Stovman and Jack Durkin entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
IRSC compiled eight hits in the game. Hunter Holland and Danny Camilo led the charge for the Pioneers. Holland led the team with three hits in four at bats including a double. Camilo had two hits in three at bats including a triple. AJ Hrica led the offense in RBI's with two. The River didn't commit a single error in the field for the second straight game. Baldrich went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead ASA College in hits. The 6-3 Pioneers will be back in action on Wednesday against Lake-Sumter State College.
