Simmons Leads Pioneer Victory

Simmons Leads Pioneer Victory

Indian River matched up with Eastern Florida Tuesday night in Melbourne for the sixth time this season.

The Pioneers sent Bo Simmons to the mound for his first start against a familiar foe this year. The Pioneers were looking to even the season series with the Titans and they did just that. The Pioneers offense was in full force in this one as all nine Pioneer hitters reached base safely in the game. The offense wasted no time giving Simmons a lead as Kohl Gilmore splashed down in the lake beyond the left field fence for a two run homer.

Pitching with a lead was no issue for Simmons as he gave the Pioneers 6 innings of work allowing just two earned runs in route to a 9-5 victory. Jarred Morgan worked three innings of relief for River, closing the door on a series tying road victory.

The series finale will take place Wednesday in Fort Pierce at 3pm.
