Dade pulls past Pioneers in extra innings

Friday's game against Miami Dade was one for the books, it was the second time this year that extra innings were needed to decide a winner.

Similar to their previous meeting that ended in an extra inning thriller, more than 20 runs were scored in the game with hot bats being swung by both lineups. Indian River jumped out to an early lead with a Grand Slam off the bat of Kohl Gilmore to a part of the ballpark home runs rarely go at Miami Dade; over the center field fence 410 feet away.

Miami Dade got three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning and both teams knew they were in store for a high scoring affair. As the game went on the Pioneers continued to string together hit after hit but their defense slowly deteriorated as the game went on and one miscue after another kept Dade in the game long enough to record the win on a walk off single in the 10th.

Gilmore had 6 RBI in the game and Leo Horacio was a perfect 6-6 at the plate with 4 runs scored in a losing effort.
