Rough Waters on the River

Rough Waters on the River

After one of the best teams wins of the season, the Pioneers were back in action against the same Broward team Saturday.

The start to the game had a similar feel as Indian River gave away the early lead and would have to come from behind if they wanted to sweep the weekend series. The Pioneers did just that as they took back the lead with a seven run fourth inning performance. The Pioneers would continue to hold the lead entering the 9th and final inning.

However that final inning was not friendly to the Pioneers as the Seahawks homered twice and sent 9 batters to the plate in route to a six run inning after trailing by five at hte start of the inning. The Pioneers threatened back with two outs in the bottom of the inning but came up short and had to swallow what turned out to be the toughest loss of the season thus far.

Offensively the Pioneers saw some success, putting up 13 runs on 10 hits and 11 free passes but in the end it wasn't enough. The Pioneers will take on Miami Dade in a home and away on Tuesday and Wednesday as conference play continues.
