Pioneers fall short by one run

For the second time in as many days the Indian River State College Pioneers took on the Panthers of Palm Beach State and for the second day in a row they fell short by a single run.

This game had a little different feel to it as the Pioneers led for much of the afternoon. The Pioneers scored two in the first and another in the second to jump out to the early lead. That lead would last until the Panthers answered in the 4th inning and tied up the game. In the 7th however, the Pioneers recaptured the lead on a Dan Oberst bases loaded HBP. In the 8th inning after Centrone's day was done, the Panthers stole back the lead with two runs off of a lead off double and a few walks and wild pitches. The River tried to answer in the 9th but an interference call while the catcher was in the act of throwing to second took the wind out of the Pioneer sailsand the Panthers took the win. The Pioneers will not be in action again until Friday at Broward College at 5pm.
