On a windy day at the park both teams struggled to adapt to the elements. The Pioneers lost four windblown pop ups and Eastern made four errors of their own. Despite the defensive struggles the game remained 2-1 entering the 9th inning. George Helbig and Tommy Romero started the game pitched wonderfully for their sides, wiggling out of jams where both teams had runners on for most of the afternoon. In the 9th, the proverbial flood gates opened and the Pioneers allowed three runs and lost by the final score of 5-1. Leo Horacio was a bright spot for the Pioneers offense going 2-2 with a BB in a losing effort.
