Pioneers Drop a Heart Breaker

Pioneers Drop a Heart Breaker

The Pioneers held a 9-2 lead following the completion of the 7th inning. The top of the 8th saw three Panthers cross the plate after a flurry of hits and one costly error leaving the score 9-5 entering the 9th and final inning. In the top of the ninth things got worse as the Panthers brought across seven runs to take a 12-9 lead, which would prove to be enough. The Pioneers' Elijah Finney made his career debut and pitched extremely well in his 5 innings of work. Finney allowed just one run on four hits while striking out six. Offensively Kohl Gilmore added his 3rd HR of the year in a game where he went 2-4 with a HBP. Dan Oberst continues to swing a hot bat adding two hits of his own and catching every inning for the Pioneers thus far this season. Nick Snyder continues to find ways to score runs for the Pioneers as he scoots across for two runs bringing his season total up to eight. The Pioneers will now hit the road for a home and away against Daytona state. Friday will be at Daytona followed by a home match up here in Fort Pierce Saturday at 1:00
